bwah~

my job I swear. Tonight I had to kick out yet another woman. Unfortunately we have non-negotiables in our shelter, and she broke one. She was doing everything else, she had soooo many barriers and difficulties. I hate it when I have to do this, I do not feel good over it. Another person who needs our program so bad, that I know she is doomed to fail now. Sux bad. Im sad. tis my job.

parents

sheesh... in my job it can get beyond frustrating. It dosent matter how much we therapists and social workers do. Our 1-3 hours a week cannont out way the multitude of hours of bad parenting that goes on when that kid is not with us. Today I helped out in a 3 hour elementary aged group and one kid cant come back cause his mom wont take him to his therapy appointments. This kid wants to come to group, he wants to talk about his crappy life. This is the kid who today responded when asked "what do you like about yourself" he shrugged and said "nothing". Im telling you, if I had the resources I would have a house full of these children. I dont have answers to why there are kids that have to be raised like this. These kids ask why... i cant answer. I know its a fallen world, I know that because of sin this happens. But its not fair! I cry for these kids. In group last night I had 11 boys and one baby girl. 9 boys under the age of 6. So we talked about respect. I asked the boys if they had ever seen someone not respect their mothers. WOAH, it came out... One boy told a story about his dad grabbing his mom by the neck and throwing her against the wall where she broke her leg... another quite little guy raised his hand and exclaimed that he watched his daddy strangle his mom. I dont know how I do it, but now I cry. These boys are the cutest ever. They are so traumatized. The statistics are against them. Boys who witness domestic violence are twice as likely to abuse their own partners and children when they become adults. This scares me, they cannot grow up to do this. It has to stop. Domestic violence stops with the children.
